Design #1
I really like this design because it is organized - there is a title, descriptions in a smaller font, and an image to accompany them. The design has a very clean composition, is simple and easy to look at. I also like the style of the artwork and how bright it is. The designer was able to produce an image with depth and perspective just by using a few simple shapes and colors. It shows that not everything needs to be overcomplicated or overdone to create an attractive piece of art.

This image immediately caught my attention with its smart use of visuals and its relation to the message/story. The title of the poster reads ‘high rise’. Depending on the perspective you view it, the man is either reaching or falling toward the lettering, which is immensely clever. Our eyes follow a path around the composition, first drawn by the bright red building, then guided by the direction of the man, toward the words. I like this design’s clever use of leading the eye, from drawing the viewer's attention from one area of an image to another. I also like the restrained use of color in this design by only using the color red, black, and the shades between. This makes the piece not look overly busy but rather focuses on the composition of the design with its monochrome look.

This image uses a collage of Olympic sports events of players in motion. It looks chaotic but organized at the same time. Starting with the background, I really like the contrast of the bright red letters/shapes against a dull beige-black background. This makes the visual experience interesting and makes the design pop. I like the placement of the athletes. The biggest figure with the javelin points upwards, and hence our eyes follow the route it points to. I also like the hierarchy - how the figures get smaller and more spaced out - higher up in the poster. Our eyes are first drawn to the bottom, with the biggest figure and most crowded area. We then follow the path of where the figure points, directed upwards and to the rest of the design by figures that get smaller in size.
