In Week 6 (this lesson took place in Week 7), we learned about the principles of poster design. The principles of design are the rules a designer must follow to create an effective and attractive composition. The fundamental principles of design are: Emphasis, Balance and Alignment, Contrast, Repetition, Proportion, Movement and White Space.

After following the video tutorial, we have to select and recolour one black-and-white image provided in Google Drive. We have to search online for skin and hair colour references.
These are my first attempts at recolouring the image. However, it was not very good. The colouring was off and the strands of hair is not very visible. After this attempt, I decided to redo the whole thing.

I changed the colour of the skin and background to give it a more natural look. I also did a new masking on the hair, so that the loose strand of hair are visible.

REFLECTION
The fundamental principles of design are Emphasis, Balance and Alignment, Contrast, Repetition, Proportion, Movement, and White Space. We learned this in the Design Principles and again in this module. I made sure to make use of the principles of design in this exercise, by using contrasting colors and emphasizing bright colors against a darker background.
