LECTURE/ TUTORIAL/ PRACTICAL

Week 13 was a public holiday. It was supposed to be our final project submission, but it got extended. Mr. Fauzi told us to balance our composition by having at least 50% of photography elements and not animate too much movement because we want to maintain the aesthetics of the photography. We can insert some footage from the Internet to support our concept, using the references here:

1. How to insert video footage and then change the blending modes in After Effects:

2. How to insert video footage (green screen) then remove the green screen in After Effects:

3. How to animate a single layer and make it look like slow motion by using After Effects' Puppet Tool:

Progress Check After my first attempt last week, I decided to redo my entire design. These are the pictures I will be using in my design. I started with laying out the main elements and arranging the composition, before adding color and the other elements.

I edited and played around with the hue and saturation, and the curve effect. I added an outer glow to some of the elements, which makes it seem like there is magic coming out of the book. I made some adjustments to the lighting and shadow to reflect the magical glow of the book.

REFLECTION
I learned how to insert a green screen video and remove the background, which is something I always wondered how people do it. It was great to learn more about After Effects and slowly start to get the hang of it. I also learned a lot of new tools we can use to make our animation, such as the puppet tool, corner pin tool, blending mode, etc.
